Hi!

I have a virtual 2003 windows terminalserver which suddenly started to behave strangely
after I downgraded the Proxmox VE kernel from 2.6.24 to 2.6.18.

Everything is working fine. Have had no problem now for serveral days. Suddenly the virtual windows server starts to run faster. If you look at the windows clock the the seconds are ticking like milliseconds. Then after a while it slows down again to normal speed.

Have anyone a solution to this problem?

I'm running Proxmox 1.6.

I have been wondering if this have something to do with a bug in the Qemu 0.9.1 driver.
Before the downgrade I used Qemu 0.11 driver. Shall try to upgrade again and see if this helps to solve the problem. The reason I did the downgrade was to get the server running on a more stable kernel. I will inform you if the upgrade solves the problem.

Update: Tried something else first. That is to use the /usepmtimer switch in boot.ini. Did run some CPU stability tests and BurnInTest with no issue. Hope this solves the problem.

Finally solved the problem. Tried installing another timekeeper, upgrading to 2.6.32 and /usepmtimer. All this didn't work. Finally found that the problem about clock ticking too fast in the guest Windows 2003 R2 Server os startet when when above 10-13 users was logged on the terminal server. Then I remembered I had upgradet the virtio network driver to 5.1.209.605. I downgraded it to 5.1.209.427 and the problem disappered.
On another Windows 2008 R2 server the virtio 5.1.209.605 works perfect. So my conclusion is to use the old virtio driver on Windows 2003 R2 and the new on Windows 2008 R2.

I've got the same problem, but no idea where to find the old 5.1.209.427 driver. So please could somebody help me.

If you read this:

the newest one is not working unter windows 2003 because the clock is running much to fast.

yes, I read the posting you mention. but Halgeir mentioned 5.1.209.605, I am talking about the latest - 5.2.209.605. but maybe its just a typo from Halgeir.

Sorry about the late reply. Have been a bit occupied lately. Have you solved the problem? If not give me an email address and I can send the drivers to you.
