Hello Everyone,

I hope you are well.

For a better understanding, I am using 2 Lenovo servers , sr650 v2, with Proxmox for testing.
NFS 3 Storage
All good until today when I have found that on a virtual Machine with Windows 11 I can not do Snapshots.
After some test , I also have found is because the VM's is stored on NFS storage.
If I move the VM on the local storage of Server, Snapshot is working.
VM Hardisk - 50 GB qcow2 (NFS)
TPM Active - format .raw

Can someone please let me know how I can fix this? is there any workaround ?

Thank you and have a wonderful day !

Snapshots are only supported with specific file-based storage, namely QCOW. Since TPM is currently limited to raw format only, its presence prevents taking a snapshot when the storage is located on NFS.
I presume by "local storage" you mean local-lvm? If so, all LVM-based virtual disks are raw. The snapshots happen at the LVM level.
It's a trade-off you currently have to contend with unless you use shared storage that is capable of taking snapshots off all disk types.

P.S. There is a bug already open to track a change to this functionality here https://bugzilla.proxmox.com, you may want to find and subscribe to it.
