What Distro of Centos 7 Should I use for cPanel Container?

hi,

i remember there were some problems while running cpanel in a container. you can still try with the centos template (enable nesting as well), but i suggest using a VM (you'll have less problems)

My cPanel server is running Centos 7 on Kernel 3.10, wouldn't I want to run on Kernel 5.3 if I am using container technology?

If on 5.3, isn't Centos 8 the way to go, if C8 is the way to go, it seems like we'd be better off waiting until cPanel supports Centos 8.

If running Centos 8, would things run OK in a container, or do I still wan to use a VM?

This is a thread-hijack. Sorry -- but I don't know what else to do since all my new threads show up for a few minutes and then go into "Awaiting approval before being displayed publicly"

Are there any rules that I might have broken? These were not my very first threads on this board. I have had 2 or 3 other threads that I started. Not sure why I have been black-listed. Is there something I could have done differently for these threads to show up?

It's frustrating that your threads don't show up when you need the help from Proxmox experts.

EDIt: Not sure if a reply will also show up or will this also go in the Awaiting approval queue

Not a perfect answer, also you can get a subscription so Proxmox has more resources to give to the forum.
Thanks for your reply KatyComputer... so to get Proxmox help, I should stop using Proxmox forums and go to reddit?

It would help if the forums had a list of rules that I could check to see if I had inadvertently broken or something. And yes, subscription is an option, but I currently do not get the warm fuzzies to consider that. Also for 85 Euros, I only get Community Support -- which means I am back to the Proxmox forums and my threads going in the approval queue.

anyway I have hijacked @Voertsek 's thread enough. I wasn't even sure if my reply to a thread would show up. But I guess it would have been nice to know if I broke a rule.

Best place to discuss Proxmox community topics is the the Proxmox is this forum.

Post from new users are held back due to spam checks and moderation reason. A forum with 60.000 members and up to 300 posts per day is on heavy attack of spammers day by day, so this is the only way to keep things running.

Hi Tom. Thank you for the explanation. Having been an Admin on the Archlinux forums previously, I am well aware of the spam issues that occur on public forums and I understand. I was just confused because, these last couple of threads were not my first on this forum. I did edit my threads a few times to add more information and screenshots etc. Maybe the forum software thought the multiple edits to be too many and blocked me then. /shrug

containers will always use the host kernel (it doesn't matter which kernel you have installed on the container) so if you're using PVE 6 with a centos container, it's using the newer kernel already

you can run centos8 on a CT but i'm not sure about cpanel support.
if you search in the forum about cpanel on containers you'll find the threads i'm talking about (people having problems with cpanel)

so i'd still suggest using a VM, some software just doesn't work that good in containers because of limited support
