Web Interface lost every approx 6 days

Hi

Ive been running Proxmox for about 3 weeks now and I really like it, but 3 times now, the web interface becomes unable to log me in. Its like every 6 days I go to log in and when I hit "login" there is a massive delay and then and error message.

There is nothing in /var/log/messages at all - is there someplace else I can look for clues?

I have restarted apache but this does not fix it. All the VEs are still running and I can use commands to stop and start them but cant login to the web interface

Im running 1.4 from an iso install - reboot always fixes it

first step: do you run the latest version? run:

apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade

I ran the command it it looks like its pulling down a new kernel. I cant reboot just yet, so I will reboot when I can and see if this fixes the problem

I took a look in the Apache log - no error in there either, weird. Anyway, have rebooted into the latest kernel and I will see how i get on in 6ish days time

Do you use any NFS storage?

yes I do, and the storage isnt always on - so I did wonder about that

If the NFS storage is offline you will run into timeouts.

How do you resolve this problem - turning the storage back on doesnt seem to work.

would restarting the nsf service do the trick. Are you sure this would result in the web interface not letting me login ?

if a NFS mount hangs it is quite hard to restore - sometimes only a reboot helps.

At least 3 users reportet such behaviour.
