Hello All,
I’m new to Proxmox but not virtualization, I’ve used VMWare in the past so I get the gist of it.
I first installed Windows 11 as vm to make sure I knew what I was doing in Proxmox, Win 11 installed fine and I could see all 8x8GB drives so I knew my HBA card was working.
My issue is that every Linux system (TrueNAS, OMV 7, Rockstor, and XigmaNAS) I’ve installed will not run after installation. They install fine, but on reboot, they will continue to try to install again.
I thought that would be an easy fix by selecting “Do not use any media” in the option for a CD/DVD Drive but the vm hung at “Booting from Hard Disk…” on reboot.
I also changed the boot order to start with the hard drive (SSD) but that did nothing.
All the NAS software will run on bare metal on my server so I know there isn’t a hardware issue with the Linux distro’s. I think it’s a config issue with Proxmox but I have developed tunnel vision on the fix. It’s most likely something stupidly simple but I can’t see it.
Now, when if the HBA card is set not configured. The system will reboot into Linux but there are no Data Drives which is useless…
One more thing, for an example of frustration: I went through the entire install for XigmaNAS, even the setup of the WebGUI, and the creation of ZFS pool without incident until the reboot…This is where it hung at “Booting from Hard Disk…”
So, any suggestion would be very appreciated as I’m losing my mind!
PS. Installed Mintlinux without any issues...go figure!
Thanks,
X
