virtio net crashing after upgrade to proxmox 2.0

Hello,

Could you send me the post subject you sent in the kvm mailing list? I'd like to follow this particular topic on this list ;)

Hi there

Probably we have the same problem:
- Proxmox 1.9 was working fine
- Proxmox 2.0, VM is stucking with 100% CPU at boot
- with this type of VM
- Kernel 2.6
- 1 Virtio HDD
- 3 Virtio NICs
- if you remove one NIC (or change to rtl8139) it works like a charme :)

We reporduced the problem with:
- CentOS 6.2 x64
- Ubuntu 10.04 LTS x64
- Ubuntu 11.10 i386
- Ubuntu 11.10 x64
- Ubuntut 12.04 LTS

as far as I can see, there is nothing that I can do for workaround?!

tnx a lot
chris

no, no new qemu-kvm package for the moment.
(I'll try to compile new kvm if I have time, as they are many new patches).
Also final qemu 1.1 is coming next month.

Note that I have add also problems with some win2008R2 guests. (virtio network card failing to activate....) and linux kernel 3.2

I just moved a win 2008 R2 machine from 1.9 to 2.1 that has 5 virtio Disks and e1000 for network.
It booted the first time after moving.
After it re-installed the drivers it no longer boots and hangs on bootup.

Changed one of the disks to IDE, now it boots fine.
So it seems there is some issue when using more than 4 virtio devices and it is a problem in KVM/qemu not the guests.

there is 1.1rc3 now in the pvetest repo, seems to help here.
