Video card passthrought?

Hello I'm setting up a server for my brothers and me to play on. I have a couple of questions. First is I did do passthrough in the past and that worked great. Took me some time to figure it out.

My first question Is it possible to share a video card between two brothers if I'm limited on the card it's self? I have two cards and there are three brothers.

The second question is that the motherboard i have the two Pice 16x slots are two close together. I can run pcie Extention cables that is not a problem. I can move the second video card in the case there is only one spot and the extention cable does not reach.

I do have a Pcie riser cards was giving to me from a friend who use to do gpu mining but no longer does that. They only take advantage of a 1x slot In stead of a 16x slot how much would i be losing in performace in gaming?

Hi,

you can use the GPU in many VM, but only one VM can run with this GPU at a time.
So if you were 3 brothers, only two of them could play.

Hey Wolfgang, Thank you for that i kinda figure it will be like that.

The other problem i have is i don't have enough pcie extention cable to move the second video card to where i would like to move it to. I been searching around online to see If i use one of them PCIE 16x down to 1x riser cards because they do have enough cable to make it work. The trade off is that i would lose performance it looke like. A guy on youtube he has tested this here. I hope this helps others it helped me to understand.
