did you use latest kernel from pvetest repository? if not, try the new one.
(pve-kernel-2.6.32-6-pve: 2.6.32-46)

if i run apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade - i have no updates avalible.
i rebooted into new kernel again, so if You have any ideas - i'll try to do my best to debud this problem.

you need to point your sources.list to the pvetest repostitory.

nano /etc/apt/sources.list

and add the following:

# PVE test packages provided by proxmox.com
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian lenny pvetest

Setting up pve-kernel-2.6.32-6-pve (2.6.32-46)
lets see if this happens again.

again crash. had to go back to the older one.

the most weird thing is that on the other server problems solved by itself (now its obvious it was not win2k issue) after server was running older kernel for some time and than i just restarted it in the new one.

download manually with wget and install with dpkg -i

i just did
apt-get remove pve-kernel-2.6.32-6
then i removed the testing repo from apt sources list and installed the pve-kernel-2.6.32-6 again.
did this did the trick?

removing the running kernel is not a good idea. you should install the new one, then reboot into the new one.
if this works, remove any unwanted kernel.

i'm running 2.6.32-4 atm, as both 2.6.32-6 from stable and testing repo crashed.

rebooted to test new kernel .. and again.
any ideas? what should i do? or any ideas what should i check? 2.6.32-4 works fine.

well, seems like it could be a problem of network card. bios and dmesg say that it is 1 gbit, but it works in 100 mbit mode (cisco port is 10/100/1000) and if i force cisco port 1000 full duplex, server does not respond anymore. atm i'm watchig bios - power and other options.

i've got there in bios such lines like
Intel QPI Link power management - should it be disabled or enabled?
and collaborative power control - disabled/enabled?

contact your hardware vendor - I would disable any power saving features if I am unsure about the OS compatibility.

i'm afraid that i will get typical HP answer about my OS . if not rhel - no support. ok. i've turned them off and will test now.

if you follow the recommendation for RHEL6.x you will be fine. our kernel is base on rhel61.

well, it does not matter. turning these options off dint help anyway.. i'm afraid i'll have to stick to the older kernel, seems is kernel. i had this error on other machine that is not totally different fro this one. will i miss something because of this?

wow, now it went a bit further and it had time to give me such message before rebooted

hmmmmmmmmm, seems i've found the root of the problem! its iptables. if i run iptables on the proxmox host i get a crash after some random time! i will test it now.
on other machine typically i ran iptables after reboot, but last time i forgot about it and it is still running and it seem all about conntrack module as always.
