VE 4.4 Cannot Create A Container Snapshot

My install is only a few weeks old, and I've successfully taken snapshots previously, but for whatever reason I'm no longer able to. I receive this error in the task log:

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'dm_snapshot': Exec format error
  /sbin/modprobe failed: 1
  snapshot: Required device-mapper target(s) not detected in your kernel.
snapshot create failed: starting cleanup
TASK ERROR: lvcreate snapshot 'pve/snap_vm-104-disk-1_Initial_Install' error:   Run `lvcreate --help' for more information.

The same thing happens for any of the 8 containers I try to take a snapshot on.

Restarting the entire node allowed me to take snapshots again, but I'm still curious as to what happened.
