VDI solution for Proxmox?

On that note, for the "GPU powered" piece what sort of applications are being run?

Do they need full DirectX 10/11 support, or is OpenGL support "good enough"?

This is a VDI solution for an educational setting. Students access the system to run Adobe CC, AutoCAD, Blender, and a few other GPU optimized Windows applications. We frequently have over 200 simultaneous sessions going on our existing VMware Horizon View cluster. We're an NVIDIA GRID license holder.

I have come across this : https://udsenterprise.com/en/uds-enterprise-supports-proxmox-windows-linux-vdi/

Not used it but plan to evaluate it.
I'm evaluating this now. Pricing is good, features are good. Works perfectly with Proxmox. User-facing UI could use some help, but they allow for a total UI replacement if you're so inclined. Admin UI is clunky, but usable. It's no VMware Horizon View from the glitz and glamour standpoint, but it offers everything else. We're (probably) going to move forward with licensing it for a year and see what else hits the market.

How did the evaluation go? Looks promising!

We ended up going with it for a 1-year term. Depending on how it goes, we'll either extend the term or see what else has developed in the next year or so. The Proxmox integration is really good - it's seamless. They offer a 60-day no-strings trial. It's worth checking out. My only caveat - VMware Horizon is very polished by comparison. UDS could use some UI attention.

O Deskpool ainda existe? Eles não parecem estar respondendo às perguntas.

Estou testando o UDS do Virtual Cable agora. Parece funcionar bem com o Proxmox, mas a interface do usuário poderia usar uma revisão séria.
O site realmente não é intuitivo, eu não usei, você poderia dar mais informações sobre seu uso e qual solução VDI você adotou para substituir o Horizon?

Hi!
I have a similar situation, are you happy with the service?
I do have this provider as a potential and would like to hear if it ended working fine for you or if you do not recommend it

We renewed for another year. v4.0 of UDS came out a month or so ago. We haven't upgraded yet, but it looks like a big upgrade from the version we have been running (v3.6). I still recommend giving it a go. Setup is a mild chore in v3.6, but once it's up and running, it's a breeze.

I made my own solution. Now it works only with pve, but I have included in the architecture the possibility of easy addition of additional providers (hypervisors). I will be very glad to requests for adding additional functionality (by creating issues) :):

Congratulations on your first release!

Is there a demo video or anything somewhere? Especially while the documentation is still coming together, a video would be really helpful to get up and running. :)

Has anyone tried to use Inuvika ? The seem to use terraform and can utilize proxmox and other hypervisors.

I am still waiting for Citrix to officially support Proxmox....They introduced Nutanix support which has similar things as Proxmox underneath so...

I tried this recently. It has a ton of promise, but felt very hacked together. We had a lot of stability issues during our 60-day trial. I might have another go with it in a year or so, but I didn't want a system I had to babysit all the time.

But.... Citrix.

In all seriousness, I'd have a look at Citrix now that Cisco has their grubby hands off of it. Could be contender if they add Proxmox support.

Kasm Technologies established a partnership with Proxmox Server Solutions which you can find just here: https://www.proxmox.com/en/about/company-details/press-releases/kasm-en

Kasm Workspaces provides such a solution to make agent bases auto-scaling work on PVE environments. This allows you to run VDI solutions, such as Linux or Windows Desktops, dedicated applications (just a Browser, Office Suite, etc.,) or even games. You can find a small demo on my YouTube.

If interested, Kasm is also sponsor of the Proxday 2026 (Mönchengladbach, Germany) and providing a lightning talk. At the next Virtualization Gathering (in German and free of charge) at credativ GmbH & gyptazy, I'm also providing some more information about it, including a live demonstration. Feel free to drop by in interested.
