hello tom,

i am just figuring out how to install a network managed apc usv and tried
apt-get install apcupsd in order to get the package first.

but i get an error saying "Couldn't find package apcupsd". can you help me ?

yes, there is a machine at my customers office still running on proxmox 1.9 and at this time he is not willing to upgrade.

thanks for your hint concerning lenny. i followed the described steps and everything is fine now.

but one thing i have to solve: how can i start the apcupsd daemon every time i boot up the machine?
sorry, but my debian knowledge is too bad for that.

i think there must something written (apcupsd_enable="YES") to the rc.conf ?
is that right or where do i have place the "/etc/init.d/apcupsd start" ?

can someone give me hint?

allmost all tools have manual pages on Linux, just type:

> man apcupsd

on debian the autostart-script for apcupsd ist automatically generated, so that after restarting the system the daemon will start.
