Use of BTRFS in the laboratory

Hey guys !

I would like to hear from you, how is the progress of using BTRFS, it seemed very promising, I am carrying out tests with it, so I would like to hear from friends here, if anyone is also testing or has already tested a laboratory environment with BTRFS storage And what is your opinion...............taking advantage, can BTRFS in a cluster be used as shared storage between nodes?

No, this not possible. BTFRS behaves in a cluster the same way as regular Directory storage, LVM, etc. - it's local only. That means that if you want to migrate guests from one host to another, the disk image needs to be transferred between nodes.

I would recommend using ZFS instead - in our experience it is far more reliable and also better supported/integrated in Proxmox VE (e.g. sync jobs). While I have not yet been personally affected by this, there are stories floating around here on how Btrfs has eaten people's data
If you require shared cluster storage, I'd also recommend giving Ceph a chance.

Thank you for your feedback, the intention of btrFS would be more curiosity, we have already worked with ZFS and Ceph which really is much superior in all aspects, the case was really a laboratory moment, thank you very much for the tip.
