Usage of second network card only for backups

Hallo,
i have 2 network connections at my proxmox server.
The first one (vmbr0) is used for all VMs and LXCs.

I want to use the second one for all the backups that I need to do automatically according to the proxmox option. But I can't see an option that another network card for this communication can be used.
Is there any chance to configure this ?

this is usually done via routing/the network setup itself. just ensure the connection to the backup target (PBS, NFS, ..) happens via that link

Ok, noted.
But I am not expert. Can you send me an example or introduction what I need to do to tell the backup service from proxmox to go via the other network card ?
I don't understand why a route should initiate the network card on my proxmox server while the backup service on proxmox is started.

one easy way to do it is to use a separate sub network. e.g., if you main local sub network is 10.0.0.0/24, give both the PVE and the PBS system an address in another subnet and configure PVE to access PBS with the IP from that subnet. or you can add a manual route on both ends with `ip route add ..` that tells both systems to access the other via a specific link.

This could likely be an enhancement request: adding a section for Cluster Options / Backup Settings, similar to the Migration Settings that allow selecting a specific defined network.

not really - for migration we can do this because we directly control both ends, and can figure out which IP to use within that network to communicate. with PBS or other storages, we only control the client side
