Update PMG running on Synology VM

We have a Synology Mail Plus Server running on a DS1621+.
Proxmox Mail Gateway runs as a virtual machine on the same.

When starting the update button (works in LAN with private IP, but not over outside), the update runs through in the console.
However, the version number does remain the old one.

1. Do I need to change the ISO file loaded in the VM?
2. When I change the ISO file are configurations preserved
3. How to export and re-import configuration?
4. Can I automate updates with a job when running as VM

Not sure that it's relevant where the PMG is running

upgrades of PMG are usually done via `apt update; apt full-upgrade` (or through the GUI) - this is quite well explained in the reference documentation:

please post the output of `apt update` and the one of `apt full-upgrade`
