Unable to add Hard Disk

Hi all

When adding an additional Hard Disk to an existing Virtual Machine the OS (RedHat 6) doesn't recognize it, not with partprobe and even not after a reboot.
i tried every possible Bus/Device and Format combination, it seems like its just not doing anything.
This happens to all Virtual Machines running on this Proxmox VE Cluster, no entries in the Logs found so far.

System: Proxmox VE 3.2-1

i am sure i missed something, any hints?

did you stop & start, you know reboot does not work, yes?

no.
any hardware change (except cdrom source, perhaps) needs the vm to be stopped. and then restarted.
no reboot/restart/reset will work, vm will not see the new or changed hardware in that way, not even the "reset" from pve web gui / vnc console option.
first stop vm.
then start vm.
the vm sees the changed hardware.

just remembered: for kvm virtual machines (not openvz CT, afaik) there is a manual switch you can enable in <vmid>.conf

hotplug: 1

then you could be able to add storage without start/stop/reboot
