A bit afraid to say this out loud, but we have a new PBS online for free accounts. This machine is specifically meant for free accounts, and is running the new PBS4.

We might 'abuse' this machine at a later stage to see if we can improve performance (mainly on the API/Authentication side). But your data will never be in harms way.

Hi there!

It would be preferable to authenticate using an API token instead of using the USR/PASS authentication for the PBS, this will save the machine quite some resources that otherwise would get spend with the authentication process.

No, not really. Why?

You can, however, set up a sync job to move the content of your old backup to your new, paid storage, and then just keep backing up to the new one.

great news. Why were you reluctant to say there will be another server for free accounts? Too much demand?

Anyway, back when this thread started the cloud pbs was barely usable from germany, now it's just a (push) sync job running in the background, not affecting PVE in any way.

Very happy to finally use this free offsite backup offer again!

Let's just say we would need multiple humans with both hands to count the amount of free accounts created in the last week..

Hetzner Datacenter in Falkenstein. Back then the pvestatd service was quite latency sensitive, which caused the PVE GUI to break if the storage did not respond quickly.
