Trying to back up VM to a share hosted by it

I have just installed PBS and trying to figure out how it works. Mostly its ok, but there is one thing i'd like to solve: my PBS datastore used a NFS share mounted via fstab. The share is provided by a VM and the actual data is stored on disks on a passed-trough RAID controller. When I try to back up this VM via PBS, the backups always fails with an error. I guess its because the VM has to be suspended for a second, and during this time the NFS share which hosts the datastore becomes unavailable.
However, the same set up has worked for me for years without PBS, just directly backing up the VM to the same NFS share hosted by it, via PVE's internal backup feature.

The question is: are there some settings either on VM or PBS side for tweaking, so that the backup runs via PBS as well?

the easiest solution (assuming the VM in question doesn't have much data on its "virtual" disk?) - define a second datastore in PBS that doesn't use resources provided by that VM, switch the backup of that particular VM to this datastore, and sync to the regular one (if you want).
