Troubling installing proxmox

I am getting this error when I try to install Proxmox VE 2.0

command 'mkfs.ext3 -m 0 -F /dev/pve/data' failed with exit code 1 at /user/bin/proxinstall/line 153

Any idea of where I can look to fix this?

on which sata-port do you have connected your hdd? What kind of hdd is it?
