Hello I am trying to log into a Ubuntu 22.04.2 server on proxmox. It is rejecting the admin login even when typed perfectly.
We know the login is correct because my boss can log into it from his macbook. However my windows os will not work. We tried sshing into the server and getting around our reverse proxies. No matted what we do it always says incorrect login. I just need help understand why it won't let me in specifically.

Thanks,
Kurtlee

Hi @Kurtlee12 ,

Nothing in your question indicates that PVE may be involved. You have not provided any specific commands, logs, or outputs to help you.

It is possible that your keyboard is broken, you are logging in to a wrong server/IP, there is a duplicate IP on the network, your boss is using SSH key, you have caps lock enabled, language switched, etc.

The troubleshooting would be the same as for any Linux server. You should examine the system log file via journalctl, you can run SSHD in debug mode, you can enable verbose mode on client side.

Start with carefully comparing the steps taken to initiate the ssh connection to ensure you are connecting to the same server.

Hi there thanks for answering.

Thank you, I have tried a bunch of things but I have not tried journalctl. I just did not know if maybe it was something weird with proxmox.

Thanks,

There’s really no scenario where Proxmox would be involved in this issue. It’s not part of the path for what you’re troubleshooting.
