Downloading:
Just curious why there are not 64 bit options when downloading the templates in the GUI, but the 64bit version of CentOS is in the wiki?

Curious why it's called AMD64?
This made my employees think it would only work on AMD hardware. We use mostly Intel.

Updating List
It would be nice if there was an "Update Templates" button in the gui also, so that it would manually recheck for newer ones. Mine were out of date and they were all failing then magically they all updated sometime today.

Will proxmox share the templates folder with other machines in a clustered environment?

AMD64 because AMD invented the 64bit extensions for x86, Intel licensed them from AMD.
Using AMD64 helps distinguish between 64bit code written for the 64bit Intel Itanium CPU.

I like the idea of an updates template feature, good suggestion.

64 bit containers use more ram. The general best practise is to use 32 bit within a 64bit host.

That being said... You can download a 64bit Template from openvz and use that.

Sorry for reviving an old thread.

I'm new to Proxmox and was also wondering why there are only 32bit templates to download?
Is it true what @marotori was saying, and one should prefer 32bit clients on a 64bit host?

This is a trivial thing to accomplish. Share the template folder via nfs and attach it as a network datastore.
