ok so i add a datastore proxmox server backup (lastest version for iso)
it an internal HD drive


then i added storage to proxmox VE as storage that is connected and working i can back up manually back to the proxmox backup server and the system se the back up as well

then i went and add a remote under configuration

remote : proxmox10
host : xx.xx.xx.xx
fingerprint : is the fingerprint i got from cluster info form the promxox VE (promxomx10)

auth-ID root@pam
password : is well the password of root

then i went to datastore --> syncjobs

added a sync job

Local Datastore : the local drive on (proxmox Backup Server)

local owner : root@pam

#### this is what i am not sure if the on the remote sync i know it pulling from VE to pbs but it trying to connect via port 8007 is this correct what i am missing

source remote : proxmox10
source Datastore : i get an error about the internal server error 500 failed to scam remote proxmox10 - remote connection to xx.xx.xx.xx failed - error

a sync job is not for "pulling from PVE", but from another PBS instance. see: https://pbs.proxmox.com/docs/managing-remotes.html

first off thanks for the reply,

secondly,

instruction from proxmox have never been to clear to be honest used proxmox for some years now as a cluster and it work fine no issue

what i want to accomplish is having the pbs sync from Proxmox VE to the pbs and manage my backup that way. now what i did do is add the storage on VE from pbs that worked i was able to backup to he pbs via storage on the VE is that the efficient way to administer VE backups from your software because what i have been doing is mount an NFS mount on proxmox and been backing up the VM that way to another server on the same lan so there really no need to pbs from my knowledge do i need to install something on VE what the advantage of pbs

also iam using lastest version of VE and pbs is version 1.0.10-1 i think

yes, for doing PVE backups you need to setup a PBS instance (the recommended way is of course on a physically separate host), configure that as storage and choose it as backup target. the main advantages are:
- backups will be faster
- backups will take up less space
- you get a built-in sync mechanism if you want to keep another copy in another location
- built-in encryption support
