I found in pvetest an actual 2.6.35er kernel:

is the 2.6.35-line still supported (or again?)?

No, we do not support that kernel anymore. Latest version is 2.6.35-13 (the file dates in pvetest changed, but the content is still the same).

the current 2.6.32, is based on redhat rhel 6.2 kernel, so they are many patches inside backported from recent kernels.(like transparent hugespage from 2.6.38 kernel by example).
