is it recommended to use the squeeze lts packages repository with proxmox? or is it better to use the common packages repository?

Proxmox VE 3.x is based on Debian Wheezy. If you are still using Proxmox VE 2.x (based on Squeeze), you should upgrade to latest 3.2.

Thanks. And for a existing 2.x Installation on Squeeze where Upgrade is not possible at the moment is it possible/better to use lts?

if you fear security holes you cannot run Proxmox VE 2.x - as there are no security fixes for 2.x since a long time, there are quite a lot of known security issues in the kernel.

squeeze lts does not help as there is no Proxmox VE kernel in there.

squeeze lts will not harm but it will not make Proxmox VE 2.x to a secure system.
