Howdy,

I have been tearing out the stubble on my head trying to get a spice terminal to open just 'like' vnc terminal window opens. I watched a video where a gentlemen clicked on spice pulldown menu and it opened a terminal window with the desktop of the vm on the guest's desktop. I have installed spice-vdagent, qemu-guest-agent. opened ports on the proxmox and guest firewall

Note the above cut'npaste of the dotvv file, there are alot of cr/lf characters (/n) characters in the output of this file. I was told (chatgpt) fwiw, that cr/lf were a no go in this file. Well anyhow. When, I attempt to use virt-viewer I get unable to connect to the graphical server. I know that I am not doing something right. I have attempted multiple options and urls.

So I hope someone can help me out with some troubleshooting steps.

hi, sorry for the late answer. did you make sure to also open the 3128 port? can the client reach the correct ip directly? (192.168.1.122 in this case)?

you could also try opening the file with remote-viewers 'verbose' and/or 'debug' output:

Hi, @dcsapak

Well Brave Browser seems to be the problem. I just opened Waterfox and clicked on spice terminal and I got an open with and I selected virt-viewer and wahla it just worked. However, I'm stubborn and I prefer Brave. I've been using it for 6mo or so and like it. I will try that on Brave momentarily.

I have discovered a quasi-solution. From the proxmox server view I make sure that my vm is selected. Click on terminal and select spice. The file is downloaded. From the downloads history, I left ( for rh people its right click) I select open with virt-viewer and wahla it opens my vm in a spice terminal. I'll mark this as solved.
