Hello,
New user to Proxmox, great software.
I have a question regarding Intel SpeedStep® Technology and Proxmox. Everytime I enable Speedstep, to enable Turbo boost, after about 15 minutes, the Proxmox server stops responding, no access to the VM's, no access to the webgui, no access to local console login. I hooked up a monitor to the server, see if any error messages are displayed. Nothing shows up, other than at the login prompt, the blinking cursor, does not blink, pretty much a symptom that the server is unresponsive.
Spent a considerable amount of time researching this anomaly, finally got a hit. A Proxmox user had power settings in the bios that they had changed. They experienced similar issues to mine, however the person never went into detail as to which settings caused the server to lockup. (I wish I had save the post).
After reading the post, I went into my BIOS and disabled the only other setting dealing with power (by default I typical disable all power settings) is Intel's SpeedStep. After a reboot, the server has being running without any hiccups. In my motherboards BIOS, if I disable SpeedStep, I loose Turbo boost.
At one point I noticed a funny error message popup at console login.
Question is, should Proxmox be able to run with Speedstep enabled?
My homelab configuration is:
Basic Proxmox install, version 7.2
Motherboard: Asrockrack E3C242D4U
CPU: I5-9600K
Memory: 4x8 Skhynix 32GB
Disk: 1-256Meg Samsung SSD, 2-1TB Samsung SSD
