I am curious to know if data backed up onto an LTO-6 tape will still be deduplicated. I have bid on a brand new LTO-6 drive (fingers crossed!) and a lot more would fit if it stays deduplicated. It nearly cut the storage used in half when it did GC.
to my knowledge yes, the data should stay deduplicated. Basically all the chunks, indices and manifests will just be copied to tape. Thus, the data will stay deduplicated.
