Shared storage and DAS

Dear sirs, We will appreciate your assitance. We wand to reach the goal to build HA based on proxmox, including ability to make LiveMigration, we own next storage system - DAS (direct attach storage).Before writing the letter, carefully reviewed the articles and messages on the forum and unfortunately there are no “out of the box” solution provided by proxmox.

Our hardware is:
- DAS (20TB) (SAS 12Gb)
- 3 nodes with SAS-adapters.

Note: OCFS2 is not suitable for us because of its instability (there were cases in practice).

How can we implement Shared Storage based on DAS?

Hi,

you have to use LVM and activate the the shared button. Then PVE is aware that this LVM is a shared one.

I'm checking it right now. But if you look at the table https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage LVM is not Shared storage.
Or the information is incorrect?

Yes and no.
LVM is not shared if you use it local and this is the normal use case.
But if the blockdevice is on a DAS or NAS it can be shared.

As far as we understand from the documentation https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/LVM2 , there isn't support for clones, snapshots and thin?

Correct this is not supported.

And last question. LVM with "shared" options is single solution for us?

What about GFS2?

You can use what you like.

We only support LVM what is aware of shared Discs.
