Hi all.
I am in a school and recently I recived some hardware HP (1 blade C3000 + storage HP MSA 2012fc).
I am studying to set blade with Proxmox and MSA as storage in backend via HBA-FC .

Question: what is best setting for storage to use for VM, ISO files, backup, etc...?

I tested the configuration storage as Multipath+LVM PV but ProXmoX support only VM storage with LVM.
I tested the HAB+LVM shared for all servers and mounted as directory, but I have some latency/delay problem and I am not happy.
Reading manual I tink good idea use LUNs from HP MSA troug Ceph, but never I used it and I haven't any experiences with CephFS.

Any suggestion? Any experencie to share?

Thank you in advanced.

Using Ceph might work but I'd rather use one of the following two options:

  1. Export 2 Luns
    1. One for LVM for VMs
    2. One mounted manually + create directory storage for backups
  2. Export 1 Lun, put LVM on PVE on it
    1. create 1 LV and mount that LV for backups
    2. Create additional LVs for VMs
Things get a little more complicated if you have a cluster. For example, you could then mount the backup Lun on one node and create a NFS share for the other nodes.
