I (and many others I am sure) would really like to see proxmox make download.cdn.proxmox.com (or a copy of it) available via rsync.

The proxmox-offline-mirror tool is very convoluted to use, and requires quite a relatively large degree of maintenance (snapshots with garbage collection) in comparison to a selective rsync, especially for those us that have only a few offline servers.

I note that on the forum others have also requested this. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/w...ublic-repository-download-proxmox-com.106742/ and have also noted the problems that we face trying to ftp. Quite often the download gets out of sync, with the subsequent problems this causes.

Constant individual http requests can become quite heavy on your servers. Is that possibly why many users complain of inaccessibility?

Are there practical, financial or technical reasons why rsync cannot happen, and if so, how can we subscribers help? Can we purchase hardware, or rent hardware for promox to use as an rsync server. e.g. If proxmox provided a single rsync server, and only allowed connection to a single other server, the secondary server could be the connection limited master public seed for other rsync sites. I have two servers in the USA which have 100TB storage, and 10Gbit connections, and these servers with an unlimited 10G connection in the USA are around $600-$700 USD per month.

Just a suggestion that would allow for many copies of the proxmox no-sub repositories to eventually exist on the internet (often in universities etc), which I would have thought would take the burden away from download.cdn.proxmox.com.
