Hi Everybody,

a few days ago my pair of USB drives running my hypervisor (lesson learnt SATA SSDs on their way) crashed and have been corrupted. I have been able to access the NVME drive that the VMs ran on. This drive is intact I think, I have been able to access the qcow2 files from it and copy them onto other drives. I have tried to access files from the qcow2 files using various techniques (photorec, testdisk, mounting to ubuntu) and none have worked. I do not have the config files that would have been stored on the hyper-visors os drives.

I have now added the qcow2 drive using this guide (https://mangolassi.it/topic/21751/import-a-qcow2-into-proxmox) amongst others, the drive is mounted into proxmox but it is not bootable.

I have access to an old backup of the VM I trying to restore, would it be possible to some how use the config from the snapshot file and merge it with the most recent qcow2 file to make it bootable?

I am really out of ideas now so any help would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks
