BLUF: Instead of buying a card and forcing an outcome through hours and days of troubleshooting, I would rather take the advice of the community and pick a GPU that isn't a troublemaker and easy to use and work with.

I looked through the forums and didn't see (I am not good as using forums) anything about which particular graphics cards are good for PCI Passthrough.

I have a simple system and just want to stop burdening the CPU to process graphical demands.

ROMED8-2T (motherboard)
AMD EPYC 7272 (CPU)

Primary caveat is the GPU must be low profile to fit inside of chassis (its mounted in a server rack). Preference would be an AMD card if feasible.

Uses will range from as simple as just regular desktop operations via a VM to transcoding for media server VM and maybe some light gaming.

Advice or help is appreciated. As mentioned prior, I would like to avoid the struggles and just get a card that works based off of the community's experience.

And gaming + media transcoding + desktop operation done by the same VM? As you can only passthrough the GPU to a single VM at a time.

Any modern (<4y old) GPU will most probably work, yet the motherboard and it's PCIe layout does also play a role. It'll also work for a time, because every kernel update that would normally make things better, could also make things worse. Happend to my motherboard, no I cannot do PCIe passthrough anymore on that one machine.
