Hi!
I installed Proxmox on an Nvme and I will be using a Hdd to store backups, iso, etc and thus I don't want to waste 100GB of expensive space with the 'local' directory. From what I read it cannot be deleted because it's recreated immediately. I couldn't find much information about this procedure and wondered if it's possible and advisable to do so (is important system data stored there?)

For the moment I created a 'local-hdd' directory and disabled the other one from the Storage panel.

Thanks

"local" is part of your root filesystem. so it won`t consume additional space if you don't store stuff there.
But I guess what you actually mean is that you want a smaller root filesystem so your "local-lvm" can be bigger.
How much space you want for your root filesystem, swap and "local-lvm" can be defined when installing PVE by clicking on the "advanced options" button. See "Advanced LVM configuration options" in the Wiki: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Installation
