I have setup a remote server in a different city to which I ship all backups using a sync job. The remote PBS datastore however doens't seem to be doing deduplication.

The local PBS.

Usage : 91.02% (3.97 TB of 4.37 TB)

Backup Count
CT : 32 Groups, 380 Snapshots

Host : 0 Groups, 0 Snapshots

VM : 23 Groups, 256 Snapshots

Stats from last Garbage Collection
Deduplication Factor 13.36

On the remote PBS.

Usage : 96.94% (4.99 TB of 5.15 TB)

Backup Count
CT : 32 Groups, 380 Snapshots

Host : 0 Groups, 0 Snapshots

VM : 23 Groups, 256 Snapshots

Stats from last Garbage Collection
Deduplication Factor : 1.00

The Garbage collection process runs on the remote server.

What is going wrong here?

Hi,
the deduplication factor is calculated based on the indexed data bytes with respect to the bytes on disk. Can you please post the output of the last garbage collection job on the remote backup server?

Glad you could solve the issue, please mark the thread as solved for others to find a solution more easily. Thank you!
