Hello Thank you all for proxmox it has made my life a lot more easier then other vm stuff i found i have learned a lot from this forum. But i have a problem. I have a 4 servers that has no drives that just sits there doing nothing and not in use with no hard drives in them. I know there is a way i can do a i guess you would call it a remote hard drive from my main hard drive server. Is there a way in proxmox to do this? Sorry I'm not a programmer or linux guy my skills are in hardware and making things run. So I'm a learning noob lol sorry. Can someone please help me with this?

you might want to read up on PXE if you really mean NO disks at all. otherwise, you probably want to take a look at NFS/CIFS. please be aware that all of that only works within a fast, local network.

I'm sorry for not explaining better what is going on. So hee is my problem. 6 months ago i bought two extra computers that had the same specs in them i5 4670 cpu with 6GB of memory and 1TB of hard drive space. I got them very cheap also the hard drives was brand new never used. So i bought them and i only needed the hard drives from them. But i keep the computers just incase later down the road i need another computer for something all i have to do is add a hard drive to it.

I took the two drives and put it into a server i have it is a 8 core 16 thread amd server a older server but still a great server. It already had memory in it 32GB which i didn't need any more then that So i put the two drives in there i went into the raid area and Mirrored them so incase one fails i still have a backup. Then i loaded proxmox on the server and ran some VM for 6 month now and loving it. I learned a lot for not being a programmer but not enough for what i needed to do next.

Now i need the two computers to run some task for something i need to test. but with all this human melware going on i can not work and i do not have the money to buy some new drives. So i saw some place a year ago maybe two that i can run some of system without any hard drive in it ot do some tasks and the OS can run off of the server or in ram i forgot it's been a while and I'm trying to think about it and i forgot. I came on here trying to ask for help to figure this out.

My network is as fast as i can get it for the money i had at the time. I have a 10GB switched used and working my server to the switch has a 2.5gb dual connection to the switch with a pcie add on card. and i have two more network cards as spares i can put into the two computers if need to and connect them to the switch. Otherwise the onboard network cards are 1gb connections. All cable is cat6. And that is basially my server network setup. Oh and my Desktop to that switch that i use daily has a 2.5gb card as well. Sorry again i don't know if it with a Capital GB or a lowercase gb.

for booting a server/computer without any disk at all, you need to setup something like PXE and be prepared to tinker to get PVE to boot from that ;)
