About a week ago the zfs-linux package on pve-no-subscription was updated to 0.7.7, but I was alarmed to see on zfsonlinux.org:

Updated 4/9/18: We've found a serious regression in 0.7.7 (#7401). Please use 0.7.6 or 0.7.8.

Are there any plans to either downgrade to v0.7.6 or upgrade to v0.7.8 soon?

Thank you.

There is no need to downgrade. Our packages already fixed that regression. So it is safe to use the packages from pve-no-subscription.

unless you are running one of the affect kernels (see below), you should not be able to trigger the bug. if you run one of those kernels, you should upgrade and reboot.

affected (only those specific packages and versions!):
pve-kernel-4.15.15-1-pve in version 4.15.15-5
pve-kernel-4.13.16-1-pve in version 4.13.16-46

fixed (and everything afterwards):
pve-kernel-4.15.15-1-pve in version 4.15.15-6
pve-kernel-4.13.16-2-pve in version 4.13.16-47

Apologies, 4.13.16-2-pve and 0.7.7 works fine. I must have been running an older kernel on that machine when I ran the test and downgraded ZFS

Do you know of any immediate problem with running 0.7.6 with 4.13.16-2-pve?

no, but you can safely upgrade to 0.7.7 (those are only the user space parts, which are not affected and can be upgraded on the fly).
