Which device is "this laptop"? The additional test-device or is PVE installed on a laptop?

(Okay, you answered in #20) Your test-device is a WLAN laptop. I am not sure if this is sufficient. You need a test device connected to the same network as PVE is connected to, and also by wire. Separate WLAN may have... separate behavior and network settings.

What is your router? Does it have a Web interface? Does it confirm that copper ethernet has 192.168.1.0/24?

switched off WIFI on my other windows laptop, and connected it to same LAN using a cable. Am able to ping google.com but not able to ping 192.168.1.1. See attached

Okay, so your wired network is NOT 192.168.1.1/24

Now we need to find out which is it! That is windows. What gives "ipconfig /all"?

Edit: from my linked post : "ipconfig - look for “IPv4-address”, “Subnet mask” and “Default gateway” . (Or similar, my Windows is German...)"
