Is there an option in Proxmox to keep 2 VMs as one active and second standby? The intention is to perform a realtime failover instead of starting the standby VM on failure. I am referring to something similar to Microsoft Clustering. I understand that we can do that using the Operating system based Clustering..

the corresponding Qemu feature would be "Qemu COLO" and is not yet in a state where it would make sense to integrate it into PVE.

Great! Does that call for any specific disk format to impliment (Something like ZFS). The reason why I ask this is to know if it makes sense for me to wait with the current HA system and move to Qemu COLO once thats ready?

there are not even concrete plans yet to integrate it, so that would likely be a long wait ;) I'd evaluate on which level(s) you need HA/failover, and implement your solution accordingly.
