[SOLVED] Raidz expansion

Hello there,

I have seen a couple of comments on Reddit & Github that raidz expansion is currently being developed/has already beta state.
Will that feature also work for PVE or do I still need all disks available at zpool create?

It was merged into master. It hasn't been cut into any release and won't but until the next major point release. RAIDZ Expansion isn't available yet in any stable ZFS release build.

Currently you can only download the master branch, compile it and install it locally.
But please note: If you enable any features from a future version there is no possiblitiy to go back to a current stable version.

But be careful, RaidZ is not fast anyway and during an expansion the performance drops even more.
You should consider this carefully when planning.

Release 2.3 was told for october in one of the last developer meetings https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w2jv2XVYFmBVvG1EGf-9A5HBVsjAYoLIFZAnWHhV-BM/edit?pli=1, see youtube links inside. 2.2.5 is just 2 weeks old and I think there will be no 2.2.6 anymore before 2.3. Then take a month for pve to catch up 2.3 into pve and you are before christmas

Not to forget 2.3.0 rc1 is just the release candidate "1" for testing purposes of any people and it depends on bugs found when the official 2.3.0 version will be released ... and it will take some further (hopefully short) time until it's integrated into new pve release

Now we are at zfs-2.3.0-rc5.. I hope it's about to come to proxmox soon..
