hello,

I have a proxmox server that works really well and I would like to consolidate my virtual machines on a new server.
basically, i have:

- A FW
- Odoo server
- UCS/AD server
- nextcloud server
- Proxmox backup server

A remote storage server in Iscsi (2*10Gbe UTP )

I would like to use a rack server, but I need your advice: Is it better to buy a " ready-to-use " server (dell, HPE) or to build a server yourself?

What do you recommend? Do you have any good tips for building your own server rack? I was thinking of using an AMD Epyc.

Thanks

We bought last year Lenovo Thinkserver SR635, which is somewhat afordable, with Epyc server and 96GB RAM. It works really well, around 50% more cpu power than SR530 we bought before. We use internal RAID controller, even though you could use ZFS if you want to. Why we use that, because we need all those snapshots and reverting out-of-order sometimes. You cannot do that in ZFS atm, if im not mistaken.
