Hello,

I've created a LVM-Thin within a HDD, when I try to move the VM Disk it doesn't let me to convert to .qcow2. Currently I've some machines already in this LVM-Thin as RAW but only when I select a SMB storage it does let me select the .qcow format otherwise the option is grayed out.

is there some way i can covert those existing VMDisk to .qcow2 from cli ?

The LVM-thin is a block level storage, it only accepts raw format. Its not clear from your post where you have the VM disk and where you are trying to move it. But it is correct that SMB (as a file storage) would allow you to store the VM disk as a file in qcow or raw format. A block storage has no filesystem, so its always "raw".

Understood, thanks for the explanation! what are the drawbacks of having it .raw ? There is no way use .qcow over LVM storage ?
I was transferring from a LVM storage
