Tab notes has broken formatting. I restored VM from PVE6.4 to 7.1 with such notes:

In edit panel are those lines line by line.
Code:
root
IP
vg0 - root 8G, swap 2G
v20210914

In view panel are those lines all on one line.
Code:
root IP vg0 - root 8G, swap 2G v20210914

Clearing notes to empy->save->reenter lines from notepad (no formatting used, only ENTERs)->same problem.

or with an empty line in between ;)

Hi, the two spaces doesnt work after saving, the two spaces are removed and is no line break.
Also if I add a line in between it then shows that line in between.

Why the switch to markdown? It was perfect before.

I had to add a load of <br> as if I was typing html code, I think adding an option to keep this as dumb text format would be nice.

Further update, the two spaces works on virtual machine notes, but not on the notes for the machine, its the latter I had to add <br>. In addition all lines starting with a comment are enlarged and bold, with the # symbol not displayed.

It is over complicated as I have loads of symbols etc. which were completely wrecked by this feature, not all of us know markdown syntax.

The good news is I found a way to effectively disable it.

Start the notes as first line with
```
also last line as
```
Then it is treated as simple text, no html code, no double spaces, no escapes needed.

it doesnt work at all - at least not like shown
in the picture are 3 parts:
1. the finally result on Proxmox (on datacenter, node and VM - all the same output)
2. an online markdown editior which shows the formating
3. how i wrote it
between 1 and 3 are some differences. but i guess we need to figure out by ourself how to align and how to make the table properties

@pille99 it's just the styling that's different (tables in the PVE UI use zebra coloring - i.e., every second row has a different background), and markdown doesn't say much about that (it's a way to encode structure, not exact looks).

@chrcoluk because it was often requested, and markdown is the most common format for structuring/formatting simple text on the web. like you already found out, you can use pre-/un-formatted text by telling the markdown renderer your note content is just that ;)

It's not working. Whatever Proxmox uses in it's Notes, it's not called "Markdown", it's called " a mess".

:-(

Chris, have you tried html?

for example

Code:
<p><b>This text is bold</b></p>
<p><i>This text is italic</i></p>
<p>This is subscript and superscript</p>

in czechsys example it should be like this
Code:
root<br>
IP<br>
vg0 - root 8G, swap 2G<br>
v20210914

And if you want BOLD
Code:
# Some bold text

A simple note: at the moment I don't have PVE 7, only PVE 8, but both of them have a web interface

yeah, it's working with html, but that is really not what i'm locking for. Writting html code is a bit to much additional work as i would like to invest and it would make copy&paste from & to our ticket system a pain.
