I would like to use a laptop as a proxmox server but I need to install a client to connect to various virtual machines linux, windows, mac (always on the same notebook). I don't need to install gnome kde or others who install useless addons, but a minimal and high-performance graphics system (does it have to be the X server?). To manage the client, just chromium is enough? or is there something more efficient? example X2G ,Spice etc etc
Grazie

Hi,

while you may be able to get this to work, I would assume you won't have much fun using such a system. Laptop hardware is likely under-powered for running PVE properly. If, for whatever reason, you still want to do this, here are some pointers:

No. You can totally use Wayland and a minimal desktop environment like Sway. I use that on my development machine and it has been working fairly well.

There are many Spice clients out there and also other solutions for remote desktop. You can of course still go the NoVNC Chromium route, but nothing stops you from using a more specialized Spice client. Depending on your choice they may provide more features while not needing as many resource as Chromium (e.g. Chromium tends to be quite RAM hungry).
