Hi, I have found a bug in ifupdown2 with traceback, I'm not sure it's 100% the same error than you, but can you try to edit:I am also in - having the same problem.
PVE hangs when booting and waits for networking.service
A workaround for this is.
this way, "networking" is permanently switched off even during reboots and only has to be started after the reboot.
- boot via Grub into Recovery Mode
Code:systemctl disable networking
- reboot normal kernel
Code:systemctl start networking
- start all virtual machines and containers manually (they are all shutdown, because the interface was not present during / after booting).
As soon as the issue is resolved, you can set this back to "enable".
I also got the following from the log:
Code:ifupdown2: main.py:85:main(): error: main exception: name 'traceback' is not defined
However, this may just be a coincidence and have nothing to do with the issue. I hope this will be fixed soon, as I have a headless unit running.
import os
import sys
import traceback
@spiritHi, I have found a bug in ifupdown2 with traceback, I'm not sure it's 100% the same error than you, but can you try to edit:
/usr/share/ifupdown2/ifupdown/scheduler.py
and add "import traceback" just after "import sys" like this:
Code:import os import sys import traceback
also, do you have any error debug log in "/var/log/ifupdown2/ " ?
please post the output ofAfter my upgrade to 8 all but one container works fine. The CT is my big Docker CT and i use that one alot. now it wont start.
the error i got is:
run_buffer: 322 Script exited with status 255
lxc_init: 844 Failed to run lxc.hook.pre-start for container "102"
__lxc_start: 2027 Failed to initialize container "102"
TASK ERROR: startup for container '102' failed
-------------------
How can i fix this? Thanks for a excellent hypervisor btw.
pct start 102 --debug
and the contents of /run/pve/ct-102.stderr
. Note that it's highly recommended to run docker within a VM instead of within a container.mmm, don't find something usefull. I think that it's crashing without logging here.
Here are my debug-logs
FYI, ifupdown2 in versionmmm, don't find something usefull. I think that it's crashing without logging here.
(can you try to add the "import traceback" in /usr/share/ifupdown2/ifupdown/scheduler.py ?)
3.2.0-1+pmx3

Solved it for me and I obviously did also not read the release notes thoroughly. Sorry for the noise.
As mentioned in the reply to the linked post (and some follow-up post), we install chrony as default NTP daemon since years, so they are not affected, or what do you mean?@t.lamprecht
Shouldn't the installation image also be patched in some way so that we can use this without a workaround?
OK it was actually the 'bridge-vlan-aware yes' option, however as I'm running Mellanox ConnectX3 (128 vlans supported) NIC's default behavior with 'bridge-vids 2-4094' caused vmbrs using Mellanox NIC completely ignore 802.1q tags and broke networking.. I had to namely specify 802.1q tags I'd like to bridge through..The problem is that if you use vmbr0 + tag 202, proxmox will create a new "vmbr0v202 + ensX.202" interfaces in background, so it'll conflict with your vlan202 device (done at bridge level)
The best/easyway is to enable vlan-aware option on bridge, like this the vm tag is set on bridge port instead physical interfaces.
Unfortunately, this did not solve my problem.
