Hi guys,

I`m trying to upgrade my proxmox version to 8, for that i`m trying to create backups first, all my containers are going well, but my VM isn`t
It always results in the same error:
Nov 24 09:57:04 proxmox qmeventd[1472585]: Starting cleanup for 101
Nov 24 09:57:04 proxmox qmeventd[1472585]: trying to acquire lock...
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox qmeventd[1472585]: OK
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox qmeventd[1472585]: Finished cleanup for 101
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox pvedaemon[1472483]: ERROR: Backup of VM 101 failed - unable to add /mnt/bak/dump/vzdump-qemu-101-2023_11_24-09_57_03.tmp/qemu-server.fw config data to vma archive
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox pvedaemon[1472483]: INFO: Backup job finished with errors
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox pvedaemon[1472483]: job errors
Nov 24 09:57:05 proxmox pvedaemon[1441895]: <root@pam> end task UPID:proxmox:001677E3:11F0CAF3:6560655F:vzdump:101:root@pam: job errors

Things i`ve tried:
1. Backup to usb drive
2. Backup to SMB mount
3. Stop the VM first then try backup
4. Create clone of VM and try backup
5. Turn off QEMU guest agent (as i`m not sure it works seeing it`s an Home Assistant OS)

All those steps keep returning the same error.

edit: I`ve just verified the qemu agent is working correctly by running "qm agent 101 ping" it returns without an error

Check whether you still have old firewall rules somewhere or whether the file is correct. If necessary, you can also post the content here in a code tag.

I am not sure what the firewall could have to do with it, but i removed all of my rules (runs only locally on lan anyway) from the VM.
No luck after that, did a further check on the Node and Cluster and disabled the rules there too. Still no luck.

Finally i looked further into this and noticed a 100.fw file still existing in the /etc/pve/filewall with a bunch of rules in it. Removed the file too, now backup seems to work fine. Now that i think of it, i thought .fw was a firmware file, never thought of firewall file :)

Anyway thanks a lot for your help, now i can finally create backups.
