Proxmox update package database extremely slow

Both Proxmox and Proxmox Backup Server take absolutely forever to update package databases as of late. Previously it barely took any time at all. Any ideas?

From Proxmox:

Hi,

The issue is might related to the DNS resolution. I would check the gateway and particularly the DNS. You can use dig, ping on `download.proxmox.com`.

EDIT: check https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/unable-to-access-internet-on-new-host.136234/
You may be on to something! I can ping via IP address just fine, but not DNS. I also tried google.com, and that worked via IP, but not DNS. I'm fairly confident that the issue is with Proxmox as my other computers can resolve DNS just fine, as can a Windows 11 VM on the Proxmox VE host. O_o -_-
From Windows 11 desktop:

From Proxmox VE host:

This is from a Windows 11 VM on the Proxmox VE host O_o :

Now pinging download.proxmox.com is working on the host, but is at least 3x slower than on the Win 11 VM on that host.
apt-get update is still extremely slow as well, but no errors this time, at least on the Proxmox VE host. I have yet to test it on the PBS that I also have.

starting apt-get update
Get:1 http://security.debian.org bookworm-security InRelease [48.0 kB]
Hit:2 https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix-agent2-plugins/1/debian bullseye InRelease
Get:3 http://security.debian.org bookworm-security/main amd64 Packages [134 kB]
Hit:4 https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/6.2/debian bullseye InRelease
Get:5 http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm InRelease [2768 B]
Get:6 http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm/pve-no-subscription amd64 Packages [228 kB]
Hit:7 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian bookworm InRelease
Get:8 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian bookworm-updates InRelease [52.1 kB]

Hello,

Please note that you have a mix of packages for bookworm (Debian 12) and bullseye (Debian 11), this might work in very specific cases but in general it can cause multiple issues.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, though it has been working fine since the release of Proxmox bookworm until just a couple of days ago. Zabbix only recently came out with a bookworm version and I have yet to upgrade. I have had multiple issues when upgrading Zabbix.

May you try to add 8.8.8.8 Google DNS to the Proxmox VE resolv `/etc/resolv.conf` and try to ping or update?
