proxmox server completely crashed with out of memory error

This morning one of our proxmox servers completely crashed and took down the VM with it. The server was still on and I was able to connect to is via console. The error was 'Out of memory'. I've also seen this proxmox server over a few weeks suck the CPUs completely dry (this server is only running a single linux vm with nginx on it (as an nginx failover), so it's not doing anything at all/not active).

I've attached a crappy photo of the errors since I was not able to copy/paste the logs/errors from the console:


Does anyone know why and how to prevent this in the future?

Hi Dominik,

I'm not that good with German so I did a Google Translate of your link. From what I can see the issue is connected with Check_MK monitoring. I'm actually also running Check_MK agent on the host so this could very well be the issue. I will look into this right away.
