Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone is running Proxmox on one of these Dell PowerEdge R510 servers. It seems like I always have to go with CentOS on Dell servers ... :(

I'm running Proxmox on R710's and on the 410's as well, so I think your 510 should fine. The R710 is installed with the following software versions -

pve-manager: 1.5-6 (pve-manager/1.5/4655)
running kernel: 2.6.32-1-pve
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 1.5-4
pve-kernel-2.6.32-1-pve: 2.6.32-4
pve-kernel-2.6.18-1-pve: 2.6.18-4
qemu-server: 1.1-11
pve-firmware: 1.0-3
libpve-storage-perl: 1.0-9
vncterm: 0.9-2
vzctl: 3.0.23-1pve8
vzdump: 1.2-5
vzprocps: 2.0.11-1dso2
vzquota: 3.0.11-1
pve-qemu-kvm: 0.11.1-2
ksm-control-daemon: 1.0-3

Linux 2.6.32-1-pve #1 SMP Fri Jan 15 11:37:39 CET 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I've got a cluster of R715s. Be advised that, last I was told, the H200 controller only exports one raid volume per set of physical disks, and does not do raid5. So you can't mirror a pair of 150gb 15k sas drives and make Proxmox see it as more than one drive. (in other words you can't split it into a 75gb sda and a 75gb sdb).

My old PE2650s w/ SCSI controllers could do that...so it is quite ridiculous...but I suppose that is the world we live in.

I've got a pair of R515s with H700 controllers and Broadcom 5709 NICs running Proxmox 1.8 without any trouble.
