Proxmox not working after reboot

Hi all,

Before I start I want to let you know that I am a noob in linux.

I am running for almost 2 years proxmox on an old Dell Optiplex running multiple VMs nextcloud, owncloud, pi-hole and other LAB machines for learning linux.

Information stored in the VMs is "nice to have data" no really important data, but it will be nice to have them working again. I know that the version of proxmox is old I will make a new installation on another hardware.

After I have rebooted the machine that proxmox is running on, the machine booted, OS is running but all the VMs and the portal are not working.

I have looked through the forum but none of the solutions I have found are not working for me.

Please find below some CLI output.

root@local:~# uname -a
Linux local 4.13.13-2-pve #1 SMP PVE 4.13.13-32 (Thu, 21 Dec 2017 09:02:14 +0100) x86_64 GNU/Linux

root@local:~# service pveproxy status
● pveproxy.service
Loaded: masked (Reason: Unit pveproxy.service is masked.)
Active: inactive (dead)

root@local:~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb buster main contrib
deb buster-updates main contrib
# security updates
deb buster/updates main contrib

# PVE pve-no-subscription repository provided by,
# NOT recommended for production use
deb jessie pve-no-subscription

root@local:~# apt-get install proxmox-ve

Package proxmox-ve is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'proxmox-ve' has no installation candidate

Could you please help me troubleshoot this issue?

Hopefully I have posted in the correct category, if not please move this thread to the correct one.
Thank you for your reply.

I have seen the reply to the thread, I have already went over the information in the wiki. I have made the changes, also imported the key tried to upgrade/install the already installed version but Proxmox is till not working.

I am gathering the new information and add it to this thread.

I am seeing some errors regarding ZFS. " Failed to start Mount ZFS filesystems."

I have another question, is it possible to install the latest version over the already installed and non working on?

Merry Christmas!!!
