Proxmox Mail Gateway 5.1 available

We are glad to announce the general availability of Proxmox Mail Gateway 5.1.

We have updated the Mail Gateway with all Debian security updates and with a 4.15 kernel. The new version 5.1 comes with many bug fixes and smaller GUI improvements like the new Transport Layer Security (TLS) policy providing certificate-based authentication and encrypted sessions.

Q: Can I do an inplace-upgrade from Proxmox Mail Gateway 4 to 5.1?
A: No. But you can backup/restore the rule database and email statistic from PMG 4 to 5.1.

Can you tell more about this feature? Additional I saw in the package messages, that the spam assassin rules have been updated, but I can't find any information on what exactly.

Heh... Funny to read this (the way you ask and the way Proxmox staff replies).

Either buy subscription and you will get "official stable" channel or just use free no-subscription repository on your own. I've never had a problem with no-subscription repository (PMG nor PVE) in the production.

Just think about it, if you get such product for free you must take your own knowledge and even responsibility and do testing for example before upgrading on critical systems. Just take it or leave it. That is my opinion.

I can only find "Transport Layer Security (TLS) provides certificate-based authentication and encrypted sessions. An encrypted session protects the information that is transmitted with SMTP mail. When you activate TLS, Proxmox Mail Gateway automatically generates a new self signed certificate for you (/etc/pmg/pmg-tls.pem)." which is not saying anything new. Recently there has also a self-signed cert been generated and then TLS been used for encryption, so what's new?
