Hi i'm a complete newbie in proxmox.I having trouble locating the config file of my virtual machines .I want to find this "/etc/qemu-server/<vm id>.conf" and configure it for sound.

you can find the VM config files in the folder '/etc/pve/qemu-server/<VMID>.conf'

You need to edit config file via console (ssh).
You can't edit config file via Web-Gui

You run a very old version of PVE, please update to the latest one. https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_3.x_to_4.0 and https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_4.x_to_5.0
